Akonnor hails AshGold character after Dreams FC triumph

AshantiGold coach, C.K Akonnor saluted his side’s character in Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Dreams FC at Len Clay Stadium.

Shafiu Mumuni’s 75th minute strike handed the Miners a seventh win in thirteen league games.

The gaffer was pleased with his outfit’s zeal in the second half.

“The game was purely tactical in the first half and there were less mistakes. It seems they knew us just like we also knew a lot about them. We showed character in the second half and I have to commend my guys for that,” Akonnor told reporters in a post-match presser.

“Sometimes you have to show attitude to win and the guys were up to the task. Kudos to the team and especially Shafiu.”

AshantiGold are placed second on the league log, trailing Medeama by two points with both teams having a game at hand. For the former gaffer, the league title is not their target.

“Game after game; that’s where our concentration is. Guys, this is a team that fought for relegation last year. No need to rush.”

The Obuasi-based club will be hosted by Berekum Chelsea in their last first round fixture of the 2017/18 ZylofonCash Premier League.
