Ghana is among twelve (12) countries given a bye to the second round of the 2019 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying scheduled for Niger.
The other countries include Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Sudan, Zambia, Congo, South Africa, Mali, Angola, Egypt, Gambia and Cameroon.
In Ghana’s path are North African rivals Algeria and Tunisia who have been paired to battle for the rights to face the Black Satellites in the penultimate round of the qualifiers, according to the draw held on Sunday.
Algeria will host the first leg between 30 March and April 1 and travel to Tunis for the return fixture scheduled for April 20- 22.
Ghana’s Black Satellites come into the picture after the aggregate winner is determined. They engage Algeria/Tunisia on the weekend of May 11, 12 or 13 for the opening leg and the reverse also between 18, 19, and 20 of May.
The winner then advances to the final lap of the qualifiers to Niger 2019. The first leg games have been fixed to come of between 13, 14 and 15 of July while the second leg games will be played between 20, 21, and 22 of July this year.
Ghana failed to qualify for the last Under-20 Afcon held in Zambia.
