The 2017/18 Ghana Premier League is almost up on football enthusiasts after the GFA fixed a new March 3 date for its commencement.
The season was previously scheduled to kick-start February 10 but it got delayed due to an injunction application by Accra Great Olympics.
Following an Accra High Court’s decision not to grant the application during its hearing on Wednesday, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) held its Ordinary Congress later in the afternoon during which the new kick-off date was confirmed.
“…since there is no injunction on the start of the league, in consultation with the League Management Committees namely; the Premier League Board and the Division One League Board, we decided that we will start the league the weekend 3rd-4th of March,” Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi announced.
“So you have one weekend and some days to put your teams in shape for the commencement of the season,” he added in his address to the over 100 Congress members present at the GFA Secretariat Conference room.
Ahead of the kickoff, the new season will be launched next Monday at the forecourt of the GFA at 6:00 p.m. The event will also see the unveiling of a new logo for the Ghana Premier League.
