The 2017/18 Ghana Premier League will kick off Saturday, February 10 with August 5, 2018 as its end date, barring any delays.
The date has been confirmed in the Ghana FA Executive Committee’s approved calendar for all competitions for the next three seasons. The calendar includes the upcoming Caf Inter-Club matches, the Ghana Premier League, the MTN FA Cup, Division One League and Ghalca competitions.
Pre-season for the 2017/18 campaign is already underway with some Premier League clubs currently competing in the Ghalca G8 Tournament which has been scheduled to end January 21.
Per the calendar, there will be a Super Cup match between league champions Aduana Stars and FA Cup winners Asante Kotoko on January 28. The weekend after it comes the official curtain raiser for the season, the GFA Gala competition at Cape Coast on February 3 and 4.
The 2017/18 Ghana Premier League and that of the Division one start concurrently on Saturday February 11, 2018. The first round is expected to last till May 6 after which the league takes a two-week break for the second half of the season.
The 2017/18 Ghana Premier League champions are thus expected to be determined by Sunday August 5, 2018.
According to the calendar, the 2018/19 season has also been tentatively set for November 11, 2018 to May 12, 2019.
Also, the opening day of the 2019/20 campaign is on August 11, 2019 and it will conclude on May 3, 2020.
Should these approved programs be successfully executed for the coming three seasons, the Ghana football calendar will be in sync with that of Europe by the start of the 2020/21 season.
