Osei Agyemang unmoved by Africa squad snub

Though surprised, defender Richard Osei Agyemang insists he has no issue with his exclusion from Asante Kotoko’s squad for the 2018 Caf Confederation Cup.

The hardworking centre-back’s name was conspicuously missing from the 26-man list confirmed by the Porcupine Warriors this week.

“When the news came and my name was out of the list, I was shocked but that’s football,” Osei Agyemang said in an interview with Kumasi-based Silver FM.

The 22-year-old says he is focused on being in his best form for any emergency call to duty.

“If something like this happens, you just have to encourage yourself and train hard.

“If because of this and you refuse to train, there could be opportunities that might come your way and if you are not fit enough, you will disgrace yourself,” he added.

Richard Osei Agyemang is also not part of the Kotoko team for the Ghalca G-8 Tournament which kicks off on Saturday. The former Berekum Chelsea player has fallen out of favour and could be farmed out by head coach Steven Polack for the coming season. There are suggestions Osei Agyemang could rejoin his former club on loan while there is also a reported interest from Medeama SC.
