Winger David Accam, on Friday, made a surprise switch from Chicago Fire to Philadelphia Union in the MLS.
The Union traded a total of $1.2 million in allocation money to Chicago Fire for the Ghana international
The trade included $300,000 in general allocation money and $900,000 in targeted allocation money.
Breakdown of the David Accam trade:
$400k Targeted (Exp. 8/31/2019);
$200k General (Exp. 5/31/2019);
$100k General to be disbursed by MLS at conclusion of 2018 season (Exp. 5/31/2020);
$500k Targeted to be disbursed by MLS at conclusion of the 2018 season (Exp. 8/31/2020)
David Accam scored 14 goals and chipped in eight assists in his third season with Chicago Fire last year. For his MLS career, the 27-year-old has 33 goals and 15 assists.
Breakdown of onward transfer settlement should Philadelphia Union sell Accam abroad between now and end of year 2020 – the transfer fee will be disbursed as follows:
Anytime in 2018: 90% to Chicago Fire, 10% to Philadelphia
1/1/19 – 6/30/19: 65% to Chicago Fire, 35% to Philadelphia
7/1/19 – 12/31/19: 50% to each
1/1/20 – 6/30/20: 40% to Chicago Fire, 60% to Philadelphia
7/1/20 – 12/31-20: 15% to Chicago Fire, 85% to Philadelphia
David Accam will be a designated player for the Union.
The 2018 Major League Soccer season kicks off March 3 and Philadelphia Union will kick off their campaign against New England Revolution.
