#FootyTransfers: Waris making FC Porto choice?

In-demand Ghana striker Majeed Waris appears to be favouring a January move from Lorient to FC Porto, reports from the French media strongly suggest.

The 26-year-old has been the subject of a transfer bidding tussle between the Portuguese giants and Ligue 1 side SM Caen in recent days.

According to L’Ouest France, Caen first presented a formal loan bid with a €6m purchase option bid and were thought to have won the race but Porto slapped in a counter bid on same terms but with a slightly superior purchase fee in the summer.

As the two sides tussle it out for the striker’s signature, Waris remains the final decider on where he ends up at and there have been suggestions the former Valenciennes man is being lured by the opportunity of Champions League football with Porto who face Liverpool later in February.

Waris, whose contract with Lorient runs until 2020, was present at training on Wednesday morning.

He joined Lorient in 2015 for a reported five million euros, putting pen-to-paper on a four-year contract, and he has been a regular first-team fixture since, making 62 league appearances.
