Egyptian side Smouha SC have signed striker Stephen Sarfo from Ghana’s Berekum Chelsea.
The 25-year-old was the second highest scorer with 15 goals to his name in the Ghana Premier League last season.
He passed a mandatory medical on Thursday before penning a contract which will run through to 2020 with the Alexandria-based club.
Sarfo was recruited from the Ghana second tier league by Berekum Chelsea prior to the start of the 2016/17 season and went on to establish a prolific goalscoring reputation on his debut in the topflight.
In September, Sarfo crowned an incredible year with the top scorer gong when he scored four goals to help Ghana win the Wafu Cup of Nations trophy.
Smouha have the knack for signing Ghanaian strikers and Sarfo becomes the fifth after Samuel Affum, Ernest Papa Arko, as well as former Kotoko duo Abdul Aziz Yusif and Seidu Bansey from the West African nation since 2010.
Smouha, currently placed 4th on the Egyptian Premier League table, have a game at home to Alassiouty SC on Friday afternoon but Sarfo is not expected to make his debut in that match day 14 fixture.
Footy-Ghana.com understands the deal will fetch Berekum Chelsea an amount in the region of $100,000.
