REVEALED: GFA Gala competition returns Feb. 3-4

The annual Gala competition is back to herald the start of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League, Footy-Ghana.com can report.

The knockout competition was last held in 2005 and won by Asante Kotoko.

Footy-Ghana gathers that the Gala, normally a two-day competition, has been proposed for February 3-4, 2018.

Subject to ratification by Congress, it will usher in the 2017/18 season which has also been proposed to start on the weekend of February 17-18.

The Gala competition, organized by the Football Association, involves the 16 clubs in the Ghanaian topflight. It is designed to afford both the newly promoted and existing clubs the opportunity to assess their readiness.

The competition nearly returned in January this year ahead of the 2016/17 season but was forced to be called off at the last minute following agitations by some Ghana Premier League clubs and the Ghana League Clubs Association (Ghalca) over appearance fee.
