Europa League: Östersunds vs Arsenal clash could feature four Ghanaians

The Uefa Europa League Round of 32 draw on Monday has thrown up a fixture which could see as many as four players of Ghanaian origin facing off.

The Östersunds FK clash with English giants Arsenal has the potential of having the likes of Samuel Mensah, Patrick Kpozo, Eddie Nketiah and Marcus McGuane (formerly known as Marcus Agyei-Tabi) getting some roles at a point in the scheduled two-legged match-up.

Mensah and Kpozo feature for the Swedish side with the latter only joining them late in the summer.

Nketiah has been a revelation in the Gunners set-up this season while midfielder McGuane, a regular in the Arsenal U-23s, has also been handed a few cameo appearances by manager Arsene Wenger in the Europa League.

The Arsenal contingent, though of Ghanaian parentage, currently represent England at the youth level.

Östersunds will host the first leg encounter on February 15, 2018 before travelling to London for the return fixture the following week.

Meanwhile, in other Europa League games of Ghanaian interest, Patrick Twumasi’s Astana has been paired with Sporting Lisbon. Also, Thomas Partey and his Atletico Madrid side will have to overcome FC Copenhagen for a Round of 16 berth.

Free-scoring Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, should he stay on after the January transfer window, is also lead Red Star Belgrade in their fixture against CSKA Moscow.
