EPL: Atsu set to return against Leicester

Christian Atsu looks close to make an injury return for Newcastle United’s game against Leicester City in the Premier League this weekend.

The Ghana international has been out since October when he suffered a knee problem in a 1-1 stalemate game against Liverpool.

This situation has kept him on the sidelines – missing a couple of games for Newcastle and sitting out of Ghana’s last round World Cup Qualifier against Egypt.

Another injury boost for the Magpies is the returning of 26-year-old Paul Dummett, who according to report nearly made the trip with Atsu in their last defeat to Chelsea but where left out due to tactical reasons.

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is confident the duo will be fit in time for their next premier league game.

“I don’t know. We will see this week. Atsu was very close, Dummett was very close, Jamaal was better but we will see how he feels during the week,” he told the club’s website.

“They are closer but we will see on Tuesday how they feel. They are getting better.”
