Boakye Yiadom: 39-goal striker voted Red Star Belgrade Player of the Year

Black Stars striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom has been voted Player of the Year at Red Star Belgrade.

Boakye, who has so far scored 23 goals in 26 games across all competitions this season, scored 39 goals in 49 games in the calendar year for Red Star after initially joining the Serbian giants on loan from Italy’s Serie B side US Latina Calcio in January 2017.

It has been an amazing year filled with goals for the 24-year-old Ghanaian international whose 8 goals in 13 games in the 2017/18 Europa League propelled Red Star Belgrade into the knockout round where they have been drawn to meet CSKA Moscow.

Before he left Latina in January for Red Star, Boakye’s said good-bye with a goal against Verona in which Latina won 2-0 on January 21.

The former Atalanta forward also played 3 games and scored 2 goals for the Black Stars during the year thus taking his total tally in 2017 to 42 goals for clubs and country.
