Accra Hearts of Oak defender Fatawu Mohammed has debunked reports claiming he is in the gulf to sign for an unnamed Saudi Arabia club.
The right-back has his contract with the Phobians running out.
Both parties have held extension talks but the new deal has stalled as a result of financial disagreements.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, he said: “It’s not true that I have travelled to Saudi Arabia; I’m in Tamale doing personal training.”
“Yes, I’m negotiating a contract renewal. Hearts has offered me an amount which I have asked them to top up.
“It’s Hearts I will play if I don’t travel abroad. I don’t see why I should play any other team locally.
“At worst, I will ‘close my eyes’ and die for Hearts but you know the economic situation in Ghana now so I have asked them to do something about the GH¢25,000,” Fatawu Mohammed further explained.
Footy-Ghana understands that Hearts of Oak are offering Fatawu Mohammed a three-year contract.
