From “Gone but not missing” to ‘I’m coming back’ – Bashir Hayford announces return

But he needs an employment first. SENSATIONAL coach Bashir Hayford says he is ready to make his return to the dugout, eight months after resigning from AshantiGold.

The veteran coach bowed out at the end of March this year after a taking a pounding as the Miners hit a bad patch – garnering 7 points in the opening 8 games of the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League.

Coach Bash, the two-time league winner quit AshGold with a colourful notice.


“This is the day the lord has made for me to hand over the technical baton of AshantiGold Sporting Club to another person to steer the technical affairs of the club. My best has not been enough for the club and the best honorable thing is to resign honorably without any prejudice.

“Necessary evils are sometimes committed in other to put things right. I thank management although it might be a bitter pill to some, I sincerely apologize for that. The opportunity given me to win Five more trophies including the league trophy for Nineteen (19) years is well appreciated.

“It does not take the frog too long a time to jump out from boiling water. Thank you very much.

“I wish the team all the best because the future is very bright for these Nineteen (19) new players brought together two weeks to the start of the league.

“Gone but not missing,” read his resignation letter to the club.


However, eight months down the line, Bashir Hayford has told Kumasi-based Abusua FM that he wants to continue coaching and ready to return from his sabbatical.

“I have had enough rest after parting ways with AshGold. Now, I’m ready to join any club that is able to meet my demands.

“I have retired from Ghana Education service [GES] therefore I am ready to return to the pitch and continue my coaching career,” he said.

Bashir Hayford has enjoyed a nine-club coaching career.
