FREE AGENT: Emmanuel Asante leaves Kotoko for Motema Pembe

Emmanuel Asante has left Kotoko to join DR Congo giants Daring Club Motema Pembe in a free agent move.

The 22-year-old moved to the Porcupine Warriors in September 2014 after a breakthrough season at fellow Ghana Premier League side Bechem United.

But Asante could not live up to the billing in Kumasi as his much envisaged progress was wrecked by recurring injuries.

The left-sided player, who can play both in defence and attack, was shipped out on loan to Accra Great Olympics for the second half of the just ended 2016/17 season.

After opting not to extend his contract with Asante Kotoko which expired on the last day of June, the former Ghana U-20 player accepted a deal from DC Motema Pembe.

Emmanuel Asante arrived in DR Congo on Monday, October 16 to complete his switch to the Kinshasha-based giants who are on a massive squad beefing exercise ahead of a new Congolese season.

Founded in 1936, DC Motema Pembe have won the DR Congo league 12 times, the FA Cup on 13 occasions and are one-time Caf Confederation Cup champions (1995).
