CONFIRMED: GN Bank not renewing DOL sponsorship

GN Bank have confirmed they will not renew their contract as headline sponsors of the Ghana Division One League (DOL).

The wholly-indigenous bank injected a cash of GH¢2.1 million into the second-tier league prior to the start of the 2014/15 season.

After exhausting their three-year agreement with the Ghana FA, General Manager Issah Adams explains GN Bank, who sponsored the league as part of their corporate social responsibility, have decided to re-align their support to new sectors other than football.

“We signed a contract with them to sponsor the league for three years. We spent 2,083,500 Ghana cedis on the league and that ended the relationship at that point,” he told Nhyira FM.

“No, we don’t intend [considering a renewal]. It’s a question of a change in strategy. As a bank or organization, our Board says we should support other areas.

“It doesn’t mean that we must continue to support only football. There are other areas that we can support so it’s an issue of a change in strategy,” Issah Adams stressed.
