U-17 World Cup: ‘India came cheap’ – Ghana coach admits

Ghana coach Paa Kwesi Fabin was pleasantly surprised by the opposition India gave his side saying they offered little threat in Thursday’s encounter.

The Black Starlets dumped India out of the Fifa U-17 World Cup tournament with four unanswered goals courtesy a brace from skipper Eric Ayiah as well as substitutes Richard Danso and Emmanuel Toku.

Prior to the match, the Ghana coach spoke highly of the Indians having monitored their spirited display against Colombia in their second group match.

But after playing them, Fabin feels India weren’t quite as competitive as they could have been.

“We could have scored more, but I’m happy with the scoreline.

“I don’t think India posed any threat today. They didn’t come to the party like the previous matches, I don’t know why.

“The plan was to start on a high note, play fast and see if India can cope,” said Fabin during post-match.

With six points, Ghana advance to the Round of 16 as winners of Group A.
