U-17 World Cup: Faisal Osman out of Ghana squad after ACL tear

Ghana U-17 defender, Faisal Osman has been ruled out of the Fifa U-17 World Cup in India after he sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) damage while preparing with the team in Prampram.

The 16-year-old former T.I.Amass student was a key member of the Black Starlets team that finished runners up in the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Head coach of the team, Paa Kwasi Fabin confirmed the centre-back has now been sent home and will not play any part in the team’s quest for glory in India next month.

“Everybody is okay [in camp]. Only that one of our key defenders, Osman Faisal, a central defender, got ACL so he’s gone home.

“He will not be joining us to the World Cup but we’ve got a replacement from Right to Dream for that position so we are okay,” he stated.

Two-time champions Ghana, who are making a return to the age group competition for the first time since 2007, are housed in Group A alongside host India, USA and Colombia. They take face Colombia on 6th October in their opening game, followed by a game against USA three days later before finishing their group stage with a game against host India on 12th October.
