Jordan Ayew: Swansea City striker suffers food poisoning with Ghana

Striker Jordan Ayew will miss the Black Stars’ trip to Brazzaville after he suffered from food poisoning, the Ghana FA has confirmed.

The Swansea City player failed to turn up at the Accra Sports Stadium Monday morning where coach Kwasi Appiah put his charges through their last training session before departing for Tuesday’s Day 4 game in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Congo.

Responding to a section of the press about the whereabouts of the 25-year-old, spokesperson for the Ghana FA, Ibrahim Sannie Daara said:

“Jordan has reported a stomach upset; this is what we received. He’s passed on the information to the technical team.

” I think he has food poisoning and that is the reason why he is not here,” said the Ghana FA official.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s elder brother, Andre Ayew has also been ruled of the game with a thigh injury. He reported for Monday’s training but could not be involved in the session.

“Andre Ayew came to training this morning but he had to leave. We understand that he has been recalled by his club [West Ham United] because of a thigh problem he had in training yesterday [Sunday],” Sannie Daara relayed.

Both players were starters when the Black Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Congo at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Friday.

Congo will host Ghana at the Stade Municipal de Kintélé. Kickoff is at 14:30 GMT.
