Presidential Decree: Cameroon’s Paul Biya creates LOC for Afcon 2019

Cameroon’s President, Paul Biya has signed a decree creating a Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2019 Afcon.

The decree puts in place a committee to ensure the successful organisation of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by the reigning African champions.

The decree N0.2017/445 of 11 August 2017 with seventeen articles, details the functioning of the local organising committee;

-Collaboration with the Caf Executive Committee charged with organising Afcon.

-Ensure the organisation of a successful football event in line with the standards of the African Football governing body, Caf.

-Follow up the execution of the construction and renovation of sites and facilities to play host to the 2019 football competition.

-Hasten the construction and rehabilitation of road networks in the country.

-Ensure the setting up of health facilities and social amenities that will serve during the football jamboree.

The Prime Minister Head of Government, oversees the work of the committee.

The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mpkwatt is President of the local organising committee while Tombi a Roko Sidiki of FECAFOOT is Vice President .

The decree is another proof of President Paul Biya’s resolved to get the country ready for the competition.
