League title not utmost priority for WAFA – Rasmussen

Coach Klavs Rasmussen has stated that his side WAFA SC is not obsessed with clinching the Ghana Premier League leaders title.

With six games to end the season, the Academy boys lie top of the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League after beating Asante Kotoko 2-0 in their outstanding matchday 24 fixture at Sogakope on Wednesday.

But the Danish trainer says they play to maintain the vision of the club and not just for titles.

According to him, WAFA’s plan is to develop and trade quality players off the shores of the country.

“You talk about winning the league, I talk about getting 50 points and that is enough for staying in the league.

“We don’t have 50 points yet, we have to get the points and we can talk about winning” Rasmussen is quoted by Joy FM.

“The issue for us to stay in the league and build up players to go abroad, that is our purpose” he added.

WAFA are now two points better than second-placed Aduana Stars who have 44 points on the Ghana Premier League table.
