“Logarusic fits the club’s project” – Kotoko defends choice of new coach

Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC have defended the appointment of Croatian coach Zdravko Lugarusic as head coach of the club.

The management of the Reds believe that their choice for the former Ashantigold and King Faisal gaffer as the head coach is to strengthen their technical team to help their quest in the upcoming season.

The club also believes that their project of restoring their glory days by winning trophies informed the acquisition of Logarusic to head the technical team as they see him as the best man for the job.

“Zdravko Lugarusic was appointed because we thought it was good for our project and also we realized beefing up our technical department was imminent for the club,” Obed Acheampong, Communications director of Kotoko told Adehye3 FM.

Obed was quizzed on news that assistant coach Michael Osei is was unhappy about the appointment of Zdravko Lugarusic which he denied and confirmed Osei is ready to work with his new head coach Logarusic.

“There was no truth in the news that Michael Osei was unhappy about the appointment of Lugarusic and has pledged his utmost support to the head coach,” he responded.

The 54-year-old UEFA Pro License holder will take over from Michael Osei as head coach for the next two years. Osei has been in acting capacity since the exit of former head coach David Duncan during the 2015/16 season.
