AFCON 2017: Fatau Dauda replaces Kwarasey in Ghana squad

Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has been called to replace Adam Larsen Kwarasey at Ghana’s camp preparing for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Kwarasey was initially included in coach Avram Grant’s 26 provisional list for the tournament but has informed the technical team of his inability to honour the invitation to represent his country at the Nations Cup.

This decision left the technical handlers with no choice than to recall Enyimba FC shot-stopper Fatau Dauda who previously failed to impress during a non-residential training at St. Aquinas Senior High School.

“I received a call yesterday [Tuesday] from Alex Asante [Deputy General Secretary of the GFA] that I should prepare and come to the camp of the Black Stars, because Adam Kwarasey is ill, so he has declined to join the team for the Afcon.

“I will be travelling to Dubai either today or tomorrow,” Dauda told Happy FM.

Dauda will now jet to the UAE to join the rest of the team in preparation for the tournament in Gabon.

The 31-year old received his international call-up in 2008 and has since then made 25 appearances for the Black Stars.
