Official: Malik Akowuah’s finally joins Hearts of Oak

Ghana Premier League club Medeama SC has officially announced the departure of midfielder Malik Akowuah to Accra Hearts of Oak.

The Mauves and Yellows had accused the Accra-based side for breaching FIFA regulations in the transfer of Akowuah after the latter had earlier announced the signing of the former Ashgold player.

However, in a statement signed by Chief Executive of Medeama SC, James Essilfie said the midfielder has joined Hearts of Oak on a permanent transfer.

“Medeama would like to announce midfielder Malik Akowuah today joined Hearts of Oak on a permanent transfer”.

“The two clubs have reached an agreement to pave way for the midfielder to continue his career at Hearts”.

“Akowuah joined the Yellow and Mauves from Ashantigold in 2012 and contributed significantly to the club’s surge in the Ghanaian top-flight”.

“He won two FA Cup titles and helped the side tremendously in reaching the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup”.

“We thank Akowuah for his efforts and wish him the very best of luck for the future”, the statement concluded.

Malik Akowuah held his first training session with the Phobians on Tuesday and is expected to feature for them on Sunday when they face their rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the semi finals of the GHALCA G6 tournament.
