2018 WCQ: A defeat to Egypt suicidal – Nyantakyi

Ghana FA President Kwasi Nyantakyi has warned that a Black Stars defeat to Egypt in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers this weekend will be suicidal.

Ghana are guests to the Pharaohs in their second ground of Group E games in the African qualifiers to the Russia tournament.

“Haven drawn the first game, it will be suicidal if we didn’t win our next game so all of us – players, management [and] technical team, everyone understands the enormity of the task ahead of us. We are very mindful and also determined to ensure that the team wins.

“At this time, we need the prayers and support of all Ghanaians so we can record a good scoreline,” Nyantakyi told GHOne Sports.

Coach Avram Grant’s men are under pressure to avoid defeat after failing to win their opening game. The Black Stars were held to a pulsating home draw in October.

The crucial tie is set for the El Borg Arab Stadium in Alexandria this Sunday.

Kickoff is at 17:00 GMT.
