Limbo: Zacharias’ fate undecided yet – Bechem United CEO

Bechem United Chief Executive Officer Kingsley Osei Bonsu says that the future of expatriate coach Manuel Zacharias is still in the open.

Zacharias took over the club in April 2016 and won the MTN FA Cup after beating Okwahu United 2-1 at the Cape Coast Stadium in September. The Portuguese trainer prior to the end of the season endured a frozen relationship with the supporters and management of the club and sat out during some games.

His future with Bechem United has since been in doubt with speculation emerging about his exit but CEO of the club Kingsley Osei Bonsu disclosed that the manager is still with the club though there is a high possibility he will leave.

“We will know the fate of the coach maybe on Friday because whether he is staying or not, there is the need for the team to move on. If he decides to stay, that’s fine but if he decides to go, there is the need for us to get a very good replacement,” he told Footy-Ghana.com

Lord Zico as Kingsley Osei Bonsu is popularly known also revealed the club are preparing the grounds for an able replacement should Zacharias’ exit be confirmed.

“We are not relaxing. We know there is the likelihood that he might leave us so we are falling on the assistant coaches for the meantime. Our President is in talks with some coaches and if it is confirmed he is not staying with us, as I rightly said there will be a good replacement.”

Bechem United will represent Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup after winning the MTN FA Cup.
