GPL: Match Day 28 PREVIEW

The 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League enters match day 28 this weekend with intriguing encounters.

There is the fight to escape relegation [though New Edubiase are already relegated] as well as chase for the new trophy between Wa All Stars and Aduana Stars.

For a number of teams, players and coaches, the past weeks have remained uncounted and little of what they desired to achieve in the league. The hour to make history counts from Sunday.

The bus for this weekend’s round of matches will take its first destination at the Accra Sports Stadium. Hearts of Oak engage Ebusua Dwarfs at home. The Phobians after demoting Sergio Traguil to the club’s junior sides seek a victory in as many games under the technical direction of newly appointed caretaker coach Yaw Preko.

Bekwai will be the next junction to stop with New Edubiase welcoming Bechem United to the Gyamfi Park. The former is already relegated but will be expected to give the new MTN FA Cup Champions a stern test.

Dreams FC with the dream of a top four finish host Inter Allies at Dawu. The debutants, with three points less than third and fourth placed Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, are seventh on the log and won’t find it easy claiming all three points from the 14th positioned ‘Eleven Is To One’ side who are battling relegation.

At Dansoman, Liberty Professionals who lie just above the relegation play hosts to leaders All Stars at the Carl Reindhoff Park.

The ‘Fire Boys’ of Aduana Stars square off against Techiman City at their favourite Osaagyefo Agyemang Badu II Park in Dormaa. Aduana are chasing All Stars for the title and lie second on 45 points, just three points adrift the ‘Northern Blues’.

To the south-western part of the country, Sekondi Hasaacas should have the confidence to grab all three points as the West Africa Football Academy visit the Essipong Stadium.

After losing their outstanding fixture to Medeama SC by 2-0, Berekum Chelsea after their lesson, there is more value to tip the ‘Blues’ to secure all points from Ashantigold  at the Golden City Park.

And what of Asante Kotoko? With them falling out of the chance to annex the Premier League after match day 27, the ‘Porcupines’ play Medeama SC at Tarkwa. The Yellow and Mauves however after exiting the CAF Confederations Cup and their 2-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea in their outstanding fixture should mean they have tuned themselves for the league matches.

All matches will be played simultaneously.
