The 2015/16 Ghana Premier League enters week 22 with exciting mid-week fixtures on Wednesday.
Seven games will be honoured following the postponement of Medeama’s clash with Aduana Stars due to the Yellow and Mauves’ Caf Confederation Cup encounter with Young Africans of Tanzania on Tuesday.
In Accra, defending champions Ashantigold will play as guests to leaders Hearts of Oak, who secured a point from Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday. The Miners, who drew 1-1 with Ebusua Dwarfs in Obuasi, are eyeing at least a point away. The Phobians, boosted by their 1-1 draw with their bitter rivals, will seek to maintain their spot at the summit with a victory, although Ashantigold have promised to be tough customers on the afternoon.
Bekwai will see a thrilling action when coach Michael Osei leads Asante Kotoko to play his former club New Edubiase at the Gyamfi Park. The first round fixture saw Edubiase record a 1-0 triumph. The game is expected to be a battle as Edubiase are eying a win to pick themselves from the base of the table. Having claimed just one win from six games in the second round, Kotoko are seeking to improve their fortunes in their bid to close in on leaders Hearts.
At Dawu, Dreams will welcome Berekum Chelsea in another tough encounter. The debutants come into the game on the back of a 2-0 loss to Hasaacas on match day 21. They have been impressive campaigners at home though, their last ending in a 2-0 win over Aduana Stars. Chelsea, however, will be buoyed by their 2-1 victory over Edubiase.
Ebusua Dwarfs, who clinched a point from the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium last weekend, will host Wafa at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium in Cape Coast. Having claimed four points from a possible six in matches against Kotoko and Ashantigold, the new boys are tipped to ride on their new-found form. In-form striker Bright Lukman is expected to lead the attack against the Academy Boys who picked a 2-0 home win over Bechem United on Saturday.
Liberty Professionals, after a loss to Aduana Stars last weekend, are expected to go for maximum points in their home encounter with Sekondi Hasaacas at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park. Hasmal, who missed the services of top scorer Eric Bekoe in their 2-0 victory over Dreams FC on Sunday, will welcome the striker back into the squad.
Techiman City will engage Bechem United away at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in Bechem. The Citizens had a smooth 2-0 ride over Inter Allies over the weekend.
In the final game, All Stars will play Inter Allies away at the Tema Park. A win for the Northern Blues will keep up the chase on leaders Hearts. The Eleven-Is-To-One, wounded by their 2-0 loss to Techiman City, will hope to clinch maximum points in their quest to move out of the relegation zone.
