Leading scorer of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League, Yahaya Mohammed, COULD in a matter of days, leave Aduana Stars for a move to Mexico’s Murciélagos Fútbol Club, footy-Ghana has confirmed.
The Mexicans are upbeat about the arrival of the Ghanaian international and have already announced securing his services in an official press statement on their upcoming season’s plans Thursday.
Yahaya, 28, following the mutual termination of his contract with Libya’s Al Ittihad Tripoli in April 2015, returned home and signed a two-year deal with one-time league winners Aduana Stars a month after. He could not be registered for the 2014/15 season which at the time had some few games left to end.
After many months of patience and enduring no competitive action, by the delayed start of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League, the once centre-back who transformed to a holding midfielder and now a forward, finally had the chance to showcase himself all over again with those great performances that kept him on the lips of local football enthusiasts a couple of years ago. The GPL finally kicked off in January.
And Yahaya Mohammed did not disappoint despite a shaky start to the season at new club Aduana. He was firing blanks until match day 5 when he led the revival of the Dormaa-based club who had gone 360 minutes without a win. He punished former club Asante Kotoko with the solitary goal in their encounter at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park.
The ex-OGC Nice player missed Aduana’s defeat to Berekum Chelsea on match day 6 to injury but returned to score 10 more in 8 games, completing the first round of the GPL as top scorer (with 11 goals) but is on the move after the rich Mexicans came calling.
Deal done or not?
Murciélagos Fútbol Club have well publicized the capture of Yahaya Mohammed from Aduana Stars among other new signings for the new season starting July 13, 2016. The announcement has been all over its official Facebook and twitter handles with an accompanying beautiful artwork.

But Yahaya is still in Ghana a top club source who explained negotiations for the move is being done at the topmost level of decision making of the club.
“Well, there’s something like that cooking up but as at now, management cannot confirm whether it [a deal] is done or not,” the top club source told footy-Ghana.com.
“It’s a deal coming from ownership. The owner of the club, Nana [Agyemang Badu II] has a relationship with that of the Mexican club [business magnate Grupo Faharo] so that’s where the talks advanced from.
“As we talk, Yahaya is in Ghana, he hasn’t travelled yet.”
The club Murciélagos FC
Murciélagos is a relatively young club founded 8 years ago in the CONCACAF region. They play in the Ascenso MX – the second professional level (First Division) of the Mexican football league system. It’s an 18-team system whose winner gets promoted to the Primera Division (top-flight).
The Bats, as they called, have their home venue as the 9,725 capacity Estadio Centenario located in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico.
After failing to even get close to promotion last season, Murciélagos FC are taking advantage of a new rule which permits clubs to use up to 10 non-Mexican players to persecute their mission for promotion from the about to start season.
Yahaya, who could take up the 18 shirt for the 2016/17 Mexican season set to begin on July 13, is one of five foreign arrivals announced by the club:

The game was won by Murciélagos 1–0 to Vaqueros de Tepic of the premier league of the second division supervised by Juan Manuel Romo being the first coach that made history with this novel system and, at the same time, having the largest number of auxiliary technical personnel in the world.
