Ex-Hearts midfielder Uriah Asante dies at age 24

Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Uriah Asante has passed away, a family member has confirmed.
The playmaker recently returned home from his Bahrain base where he played for Al Riffa SC together with compatriot Moussa Narry this just ended season.
According to a cousin, Adolf Gyimah, who spoke to Kumasi-based Ashh FM, the 24-year-old had been complaining of pains when swallowing food.
Uriah Asante, a University of Ghana graduate, was reported dead at the Korle-Bu Hospital in Accra Monday.
He left Hearts of Oak as a free agent in 2012 and was touted for a switch to rivals Asante Kotoko but opted for a move abroad when Tunisian giants Etoile du Sahel reached out with a juicy offer.
Uriah Asante then enjoyed a short loan stint at Romanian club Astra Giurgiu returned to Tunisia and moved to EGS Gafsa. He abrogated his contract with the side in July 2015 before ending up in Bahrain last September.
