‘We have brought back the smiles at Hearts’ – Kennedy Appiah

Accra Hearts of Oak left back Kennedy Appiah says the win over Berekum Chelsea has brought back the smiles on the faces of the players and the teeming fans of the club.

Hearts had painfully lost a match they were bound to win against arch-rivals Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium a fortnight ago

But the Phobians responded positively by casting aside the defeat to beat Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park and shatter the four-year unbeaten home record of the Blues.

“We know the fans were not happy but we are happy to bring back the smile with the victory over Chelsea,” Appiah told Hearts of Oak’s media channel.

“We want them to continue supporting us and I am optimistic we will do the work in our next home game.

“We are all happy with the victory [over Berekum Chelsea]. We listened to the game plan of coach and we executed it to get the victory in the second half. We were instructed not to go gung-ho in attack because we were playing away so we had to be compact and solid at the back. In the second half, we opened up a little and we got the deserved goal.

“We are happy we won because it is not easy to beat Chelsea. In addition, this is a long journey from Accra to Berekum so if you do not get victory, it makes it tough. We were determined too after losing to Kotoko because were down at training and all that so we had to respond here. We came all out to win and by his Grace, we won. We are all happy; everybody in the team bus is excited with the result.”
