GPL Wrap: All Stars beat Kotoko to go top, Aduana defeated

In-form Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars failed to win their respective games on Wednesday to put pressure on leaders Hearts of Oak who will honour their match day 14 game of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League 24 hours later.

All Stars banished their unimpressive home record against Kotoko at the Wa Park with a 1-0 victory. Richard Arthur scored the only goal of the encounter in the first half, also halting the winning run of the Porcupine Warriors at 5 straight games. All Stars now top of the league table on same points, 25, with Hearts but hold a superior goal and head to head advantage.

At the Robert Mensah Stadium, coach Prosper Nartey secured his first win since taking charge of Ebusua Dwarfs with a sweet comeback victory over in-form Aduana Stars. Winger Richard Mpong gave the visitors the lead in the second half but striker Bright Luqman equalizer before Nicholas Gyan snatched a late winner for the Cape-Coast club. 2-1 it ended.

Inter Allies returned to winning ways as they posted a 3-1 win over Berekum Chelsea at the Tema Stadium. Edward Adjaklo put the hosts in the lead before Frederick Boateng bagged a brace to make it 3-0. In demand striker Sadick Adams however scored a consolation for the Berekum boys late on in the game – his 7th goal in the league.

Struggling champions AshantiGold appeared close to securing a first win on the road after leading Techiman City 1-0 from a Mumuni first half strike for a greater chunk of the game at the Nana Ameyaw Park. But their hopes were dashed by Ebenezer Agyapong who pulled level to give City a point from the match day 14 clash. AshGold have now drawn 9 of 14 games played in the GPL this season.

Medeama came back from two goals down to beat WAFA SC 3-2 at the T&A Park. The Academy boys shot themselves in the lead through captain Martin Antwi and new Togo less import Komla Agbegniadan but we’re pegged back by goals from Daniel Amoah and Bernard Ofori. Midfielder Kwasi Donsu then left it late to secure a 3-2 victory for the Yellow and Mauves.

Eric Adu Poku’s equalizer ensured Sekondi Hasaacas grabbed a point from their trip to  the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park. Bechem United had taken the lead through Abednego Tetteh.
