GPL: All Stars coach hails team’s tactical discipline

Wa All Stars coach, Enos Kwame Adepah has stated that their 1-0 win against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park was down to tactical discipline.

All Stars won the game through an 80th minute strike from striker Richard Arthur.

This is a second win in a row for the Wa-based club, helping them to remain at the top of the league table as the first round of comes to an end.

Coach Adepa, who is presiding over the club’s unprecedented league impressive display said, they had specially prepared to face Berekum Chelsea.

“We really worked for it and luckily for us, we had what we wanted,” Adepa told reporters after the game.

“Our intention was to come here [Berekum Golden City] and win. By God’s grace, we won the match. We knew the game was going to be difficult on the basis of they [Chelsea] losing their previous game [against Inter Allies] and now playing at home, it was always going to be tough,” he added.

“Games like this, you need to plan very well in terms of tactics. We realized their team’s strength lies on the shoulders Sadick Adams, so we needed to play him out of the game. That was why he was virtually ineffective in the game.

“For me, I am not surprised we won the game. It was tactically planned and finally we won.

“In matches of such calibre, you don’t go throwing everything in. You need to be aware of their threat while you thread cautiously and then counter them on the break,” he explained.

Wa All Stars occupies the top of the Ghana Premier League after the first round with 28 points. The league returns on the 26th of June.
