Under pressure AshantiGold coach Bashir Hayford has officially requested the activation of his accumulated 90-day leave of office beginning May 20, 2016, footy-GHANA.com has confirmed.
The gaffer who supervised the side to winning the Ghana Premier League title last season has received massive flak from supporters of the club this term with many calling for his head due to a poor run of results.
An adamant Hayford with the backing of the club’s management has stayed on working on hoping to turn around the dwindling fortunes of the Miners but the boat appears to keep sinking for the side.
Footy-Ghana has confirmed that coach Hayford, after another poor display from his side in their match day 11 scoreless stalemate at home to Bechem United, officially submitted a letter asking to be allowed to stay off the team through the activation of his leave of office stipulated in his contract.
“The coach appears to begin to feel being sabotaged by the players at the moment and wants to observe from behind. According to him, it is prudent at the moment to take his leave so that the club could move forward if he is the source of the problems mitigating against the side,” a top management source who confirmed receiving the letter told Footy-Ghana Monday.
“Management is yet to take action on the letter because Chief Executive Officer Kudjoe Fianoo has travelled to Accra,” the source added.
Coach Bashir Hayford’s letter, footy-GHANA.com is also reliably informed has requested the AshGold management to make ready the outstanding enticement fee and other yet to be settled entitlements in his recent contract renewal with the side. Hayford signed a new two year contract prior to the start of the ongoing season.
AshantiGold currently lie 14th on the 16-team Ghana Premier League log from just two wins, three defeats and six drawn games. The Miners are also out of the MTN FA Cup competition.
