GPL Wrap: Hearts travel to beat AshGold, All Stars maintain lead

Yahaya Mohammed scored in either half to hand Aduana Stars a big win over Medeama SC at the Dormaa Park on match day 9 of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League Sunday.

Accra Hearts of Oak recorded a morale boosting victory away to champions AshantiGold. Striker Cosmos Dauda increased his season’s tally to four goals with a second half brace before centre-back Awudu Nafiu scored the grabbed a consolation as the Phobians won 2-1 at the Len Clay Stadium. The Phobians next host arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in Accra on May 2.

Hearts remain two points behind leaders Wa All Stars who beat Inter Allies 2-0 at the Malik Jabir Park. Richard Arthur and Emmanuel Ocran both scored to keep All Stars atop the 16-team log with 20 points.

WAFA SC, after snatching a point from Hearts of Oak in midweek, coasted to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Ebusua Dwarfs at Sogakope. Charles Boateng scored his 4th goal of the campaign in the 13th minute before Ibrahim Tanko added the second on 66 minutes. They are fifth on the table.

Sekondi Hasaacas were undone by a last gasp Bernard Arthur goal for Liberty Professionals to emerge runaway victors at the Essipong Stadium in Sekondi.

An Ibrahim Issaka first half opener followed by Isaac Baah’s penalty in the second half were enough for Techiman City to hand Bechem United a 2-0 defeat at the Den.

Fit-again Berekum Chelsea captain Sadick Adams scored twice in the second half after Seth Appiah’s 41st minute opener for the former league champions to thrash new boys Dreams FC 3-0 at the ever intimidating Golden City Park grounds. Chelsea now tie with Liberty on 16 points but the latter have the superior goal advantage placing them at third position after 9 games.

On Saturday, Asante Kotoko who had gone on a two-match winning streak were halted by boogie side New Edubiase United. Prince Antwi scored in the 21st minute to hand the porcupines their 4th defeat in nine matches this season.
