The 2015/16 Ghana Premier League first round Super clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko has been rescheduled for May 2.
The new arrangement sees the match day 10 fixture between Ghana’s biggest rivals clash on a Monday which is also a statutory holiday in part of the International Workers’ Day commemoration this year.
Footy-Ghana understands that after careful thoughts and deliberations, league organizers, the Premier League Board (PLB) and TV rights holders SuperSport, both stakeholders deem it appropriate to have the match originally scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium on May 1 (Workers’ Day) moved a day further.
Among the reasons that the necessitated the shift, we are told was the closeness of the match venue to the independence square which serves as the parade grounds for the marking of the annual event. The venue is envisaged to be congested on May 1 which could have effects on the game.
Though the PLB is yet to make an official announcement through the Ghana FA, parties within the decision making have confirmed that the Phobians will welcome the porcupine warriors at the Accra Stadium on Monday May 2.
Prior to that, 7 other match day 10 fixtures will be honored on Sunday, May 1, 2016.
Two games have been confirmed for live TV broadcast – the Inter Allies vs. Techiman City encounter at the Tema Stadium on May 1 and the Hearts-Kotoko game the following day.
