GPL: Dreams, All Stars share spoils in top-of-the-table clash

Dreams FC and Wa All Stars failed to outscore each other in the first match day 4 fixture of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League on Saturday.

Both sides however broke each other’s defensive records as Emmanuel Lomotey and Wahidu Mumuni found the back of the net for their respective sides ending the encounter in a deserved stalemate. For Dreams it was their first goal conceded on home soil.

The game at the Dawu Park began on a slow pace with visitors All Stars looking more comfortable with their play in the opening 12 minutes.

The home side soon turned on their style and quickly had one of two successive dangerous moves resulting in the opening goal. A move down the left saw Aaron Amoah’s pass find the path of Emmanuel Lomotey who made no mistake in smashing the ball home from close range in the 15th minute.

All Stars thus conceded their first goal of the season.

Dreams, in search of their second goal pending any last minute skirmishes, dictated pace by mounting pressure and entertaining the spectators to beautiful exchanges and nice controls.

Goal scorer Lomotey had a golden opportunity to extend his goal tally when he was played through by striker Bekui but blasted way off target.

The visitors managed to pull strings together and won a free-kick at the left side of attack on the 35th minute. Wahidu Mumuni made no mistake as he beautifully struck the kick to beat experienced goalie Mozart Adjetey to draw level. The home side was left stunned as their early lead had been cancelled.

Striker Lawson Bekui’s overhead kick a minute later went over the bar as the first half ended one all.

Early in the second half, Joseph Adjei was replaced by Isahaku Konda following a knock.

Dreams brought on former Kingfaisal and Hearts of Oak striker Eric Gawu for Aaron Amoah ten minutes into the game.

Gawu teamed up with Bekui and other players to cause problems for the visiting side but had their efforts thwarted by the defence of All Stars and had others missed.

The pressure kept on increasing but failed to get the second goal of the game as the match ended in one all.
