Darkwah denies rift among Aduana players

Aduana Stars midfielder, Daniel Darkwah has debunked media reports suggesting that there is a rift between the old and newly recruited players of the club.

The 2010 Ghana Premier League champions, prior to the start of the season, augmented their squad with some big names in a bid to win their second league title. As a result, they acquired the services of former Asante Kotoko trio of Yahaya Mohammed, Joseph Addo and Richard Mpong.

They also purchased B.A United’s Anokye Badu, Bechem United’s mercurial midfielder Noah Martey, Sampson Wirekoh Boampong affectionately called ‘Dormaa Polo’ as well as WAFA youngster Zakaria Mumuni.

But the Dormaa-based outfit has failed to glitter in the two-week Ghana Premier League, losing 0-2 to Inter Allies at Tema and shockingly succumbing to a 1-0 home defeat to Wa All Stars.

The team’s poor start has also led to the resignation of head coach Nurudeen Ahmed on Monday morning.

And widespread rumours circulating in the media indicate the team is struggling because of a growing rift as a result discontent on the part of ‘old’ players over perceived preferential treatment handed the club’s new arrivals.

But Darkwah tells that those claims are false. According to him there is good relationship among all the players in the team.

‘’Those issues are not true at all. I’m a player in the team and I can say on authority that it is false. If you come to the training grounds and then see the way we have mingled, someone will even find it difficult to identify an old player or a new player,’’

‘’We talked to them when they were playing for their former clubs. Why should we be divided if they have joined us? I think their presence should rather strengthen our relationship with them. It’s not true,’’ he emphasized.

Aduana Stars currently lies 15th on the league log. They will trek to play regional-rivals Techiman in the third week of the Ghana Premier League.
