AIMING HIGHER: ‘Retaining the FA Cup was not our top priority’ – Medeama SC

2015 MTN FA Cup winners Medeama SC claim retaining the trophy this term was not their top priority.

The Yellow and Mauves who got an early exit from the competition this time around after suffering a defeat to Liberty Professionals in the round of 64 over the weekend says the club is looking forward to achieving higher laurels.

Medeama in 2013 won 1-0 against Asante Kotoko and also won 2-1 in 2015 over the same side to win the competition two times and a member of the club’s communication team, Benjamin Kesse who doubles as administrative manager in an interview with Kapital Sports mentioned:

“Yes it’s very unfortunate that defending champions should leave at this early stage but I want to be frank here… that the MTN FA Cup was not a top priority for Medeama SC.

“We stated it clearly that our target is the league and also to make huge impact on the continental stage and that is where we are channeling our resources”.

“So the MTN FA Cup, indeed we didn’t want to lose or exit at this early stage but it has happened, but I can assure that it will not have any impact on our target for this season.

“We didn’t set it as a target after all we’ve had it two times in our seven years participation of the premier league so we think that we have to aim high and move beyond the MTN FA Cup,” Kesse emphasized.

Medeama SC will be playing their outstanding Ghana Premier League game with Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday and then Bechem United in match day 6 at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park this weekend.
