“No shaking after a shaky start” – Edubiase chief

Chairman of New Edubiase United Football Club, Abdul Salam Yakubu, is highly confident of surviving this season’s league despite a mass exodus of experienced players from the club.

After a shaky start to the league where they lost 0-1 to Accra Hearts of Oak, many are of the view that the Obuasi-based club could suffer a déjà vu from last season and probably get sent drowning in the relegation pool this time around.

Edubiase placed 9th with 42 points last season with two points separating them and relegated Great Olympics.

But Abdul Salam has calm down fears of such thing happening.

In an interview with the nations leading sports site, Footy-GHANA.com, he revealed that the club will surprise the league once again with young and enterprising players.

“Edubiase has always been there and surprise the league with young and talented players.

“Moro Ibrahim went, Ebenezer Ofori went, Aseidu Attobrah also left. They were nobody before Edubiase but we made them who they are.

“Nuhu brothers’ are gone. Latif Anabila was a Colts player last season; he came and won the best player [sic],” he said.

Further revealing to Footy-Ghana.com he said, four new players will hopefully be outdoored come Friday, who are ready to take over the mantle with excellent football.

“This season we have ten (10) new players maybe hopefully we outdoor four on Sunday.”

“We have young talented players and we believe that they are going to replace whoever has left the club so no shaking, Abdul Salam told Footy-GHANA.com.

Edubiase open the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League’s match day 2 round of games with a Friday evening clash with returnees Ebusua Dwarfs. The match is set for a 16:30 GMT kickoff and will be telecast live on SuperSport TV.
