Asante Kotoko captain believes a win to start the season will be crucial for the club’s focus and ambition in the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine warriors begin their 2015/16 league campaign away to WAFA at Sogakofe and the skipper of the side, Amos Frimpong has revealed a win will be a massive boost in their quest to regain title.
Kotoko are in high hopes ahead of the game after an excellent pre-season our sources can reveal. When Amos was asked whether they will break John Killa’s side who proved a thorn in the flesh of Kotoko last season, the skipper sounded optimistic.
“We are going for win because the outcome of every first game in a competition of this nature has great influence on the team,” he told asantekotokosc.com.
The defender anticipates a bright start with a win as opposed to last season’s poor start when they lost 1-0 to Aduana Stars at Dormaa.
Last season, Kotoko drew with WAFA in a goalless stalemate in the first round and suffered a 1-0 defeat in the reverse though a valiant fight was put up by Coach Duncan and his players.
Asante Kotoko play guests to WAFA in the opening fixture of the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League on Saturday at SogakoPe to be telecast live on GTV Sports Plus and Supersport TV.
