Hearts of Oak’s veteran Burkinabe goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye believes the team is making steady progress under new head coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi.
A 13th place finish in the season gone by saw the Phobians escape relegation only on superior goal difference while an unending run of unimpressive results culminated in several managerial changes coupled with player revolt.
With the new league season set to commence on February 20 the circus surrounding the former league champions is far from over.
Chief Executive Officer Gerald Ankrah has handed in his resignation while fans remain skeptical over the appointment of their new Japanese American coach as well as what they have described as poor business in the transfer window.
Hearts recorded a 2-0 win, their first under Yatsuhashi against Nigerian side Ifeanyi Ubah at the Accra Sports Stadium, a match which also saw new signing Ibrahim Samudeen get on the score sheet.
According to Soulama, improvement is a gradual process and that has been the case since the new manager took charge.
“People have said so many things since the coach took charge but even though results in the friendly matches have not been the best we the players know the improvements that have been made.
“Effort in training has improved and the coach is working very well.
“We look better in a number of departments already and we hope that it continues that way,” he said.
