Felix Annan out for up to 8 weeks

Felix Annan has been ruled out for up to eight weeks with a “muscular stretch” in his right knee, Footy-Ghana.com has confirmed.

The Asante Kotoko goalkeeper picked up the knee injury in a collision with Charles Boateng during last Saturday’s league clash with WAFA SC at Sogakope.

Annan was subsequently replaced by Eric Ofori Antwi in the 26th minute

Club medics have confirmed that the national U-23 team goalkeeper suffered a grade two injury in his affected knee

“It is a grade two injury – a minor one. So with rehab and other management, we should have him back within about two months,” Kotoko physio Jerry Newton said.

“He got injured in his knee last Saturday. The wqy the incident happened, we feared it could be a serious one. We could not immediately make any better assessment because we were away. We gave him some guidelines to follow till the initial examination was done on Monday.

“Luckily, it is not as serious as feared so there’s no need for further MRI scans. It is a manageable injury. The pains in his leg have significantly rwduced at the moment,” Newton stated.

Asante Kotoko now have goalkeepers Eric Ofori Antwi and Ernest Sowah to fall on in their next games with youth goalie Kaisan Yuisu as backup.
