DENIAL: Andre Ayew not on Sunderland radar – Allardyce

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has quashed reports of an attempt to land Ghana international Andre Ayew from Swansea City.

Reports emerged earlier this week that the former Marseille player who shares the same agent as the Sunderland boss has been targeted by the Black Cats in a deal that will see Italian striker Fabio Borini move to the Wales.

However, Allardyce told reporters today at a presser ahead of next Tuesday night’s Premier League home fixture against Manchester City that it’s rumour created by the media.

”There’s been no contact between us and Swansea. We haven’t made an offer to Swansea,” he said.

“I’m not certain Swansea would want to sell him, so I think that’s a little bit of speculation on media behalf. I can’t say any more than that because he’s a Swansea player.”

Ayew joined the Swansea City last summer and became an instant hit, winning the Barclays Player of the Month Award in August. He has eight goals in 22 Premier League games to his name this season.
