Bashir Hayford laments delay in start of new season

AshantiGold gaffer, Bashir Hayford, is an unhappy man as there is no fixed date for the start of the new Premier League season yet.

It is barely 12 weeks since the experienced coach led his side to clinch the 2014/15 Ghana Premier League title. Clubs have gone on break and returned for pre-season in anticipation of the start of a new campaign but there has been no communication from the football association.

A December 20 date initially cropped up in the media but has looked not feasible as there are still outstanding club disputes yet to be cleared by the judicial bodies of the Ghana FA.

“I drew my programme up to 20th December. Now look at where it has gone. I have to change my programme,” a concerned Hayford said.

“I have to slow down, reduce the intensity at training but because I’m a scientific I know how to train my boys and my players understand my training method,” he added.

Several media sources are however now reporting January 10, 2016 as a possible date to initiate the new season.
