Gyan savours win against ‘difficult’ Comoros

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has described as ‘good victory’, the Black Stars 2-0 aggregate triumph over Comoros on Tuesday.

The Black Stars drew goalless away to the lowly-ranked Southern Africans in Moroni but turned on the tie with a hard fought win with goals from Mubarak Wakaso and Jordan Ayew in each half.

“It is a good victory for us. We drew 0-0 over there and came to win 2-0 here,” Gyan said after the game at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

“Sometimes you face difficult opponents. People think they are ‘Comoros’ but tactically, they were very disciplined. They know how to block the spaces and everything,” he continued.

“We got a couple of chances that we could have buried but I think playing against them is very difficult. The most important thing is, we were able to get two goals.

Ghana have advanced to the group stage of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers where 20 teams will be drawn into five groups of four teams. The winner of each group wins a slot to the Russia World Cup.
