U-17 WWC: Maidens claw back to beat USA

Ghana’s Black Maidens on Tuesday afternoon made a comeback to beat USA 2-1 in the U-17 Women’s World Cup at the King Abdullah Stadium in Amman.

Frankie Tagliaferri gave the Americans the lead in the 5th minute, taking the scoreline to half time with the Maidens trailing.

It was time for the Black Maidens to get on the score sheet after pressing hard in the second half resulting in a goal in the 63rd minute from Gifty Acheampong.

Captain Sandra Owusu Ansah got the winning goal for the Maidens after converting a spot kick with just six minutes to end proceedings.

The results put Ghana in a good position of qualifying to the next stage of the competition ahead of their final game with Paraguay on 8th October at Al-Hassan Stadium in Irbid.

The Black Maidens are placed third on the Group D table with 3 points from 2 games.
