Tom Strand casts doubts over Medeama future

Coach of Medeama SC, Tom Strand has given the strongest indication of his imminent departure from the Tarkwa based club after having a poor start to the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League campaign.

Meadeama has one (1) point out of a possible nine (9) after his side lost to defending champions Ashgold in Obuasi and Accra Hearts of Oak at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park in match day 1 and 2 respectively and an way draw with Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

In an exclusive interview with Kapital Sports, the former Bechem United coach said although he can’t speak based on fact, the real state of his future with the club will be known soon.

“I don’t know 100% so it will be difficult to tell you the 100% fact so everything will be based on speculation and will be giving the whole fact but time will tell and we will know soon enough.”

It will be recalled that there was a switch in coaching last Sunday when the ‘Mauves and Yellow’ met Kotoko after the 35 year old allegedly abandoned his coaching duties in the second half of the game for technical director Evans Adotey and this obviously didn’t go down well with officials of Medeama creating an uncertainty around the future of Strand.

“We are handling the situation and we will see what will happen if I will still be at Medeama or something else would happen but only time will tell though we can speculate but right now I don’t want to think about it. We will know in a couple of days”, Strand stated.

When Tom Strand was asked of the club’s preparedness for their 2016 CAF Confederation Cup round 16 encounter against Al-Ittihad, Coach Tom Strand said “No Comment” and when he was further questioned on why he won’t comment on the impending game, the Swedish trainer insisted he wasn’t going to comment on the game.

This has given credit to his departure from the club even before the side’s date with the Libyan outfit, with the first leg coming on in Tripoli on 12th March and the return fixture slated for Ghana a fortnight later.
