Medeama SC were without head coach Tom Strand when they beat Inter Allies 1-0 in their outstanding match day 8 game on Wednesday.
Technical Director Evans Adottey who said after the game he had no knowledge of the Swede’s whereabouts took charge in his absence. This has raised a lot of concerns about Strand’s recent behaviour regarding his coaching duties for the Yellow and Mauves with a section of football enthusiasts claiming he left with no permission.
Medeama has released a statement to deny such allegations about the coach but have expressed their displeasure with Strand’s conduct and deal with it accordingly.
The statement which was released by the club on Thursday means the coach still holds his office as the gaffer of the two-time FA Cup champions.
“Medeama would like to deny widespread media reports claiming Coach Tom Strand has gone AWOL.
Strand is currently at his residence in Tarkwa and so reports that he is ‘lost’ must be disregarded.
However, management is concerned about his attitude in recent weeks and will hold a crunch meeting with him today (Thursday) to take a definite decision.
He has not trained the team since Monday and failed to show up for our deserved Premier League win over Inter Allies on Wednesday.
The club top hierarchy is concerned about the growing situation involving our coach and will announce in due course the next line of action.
We would like to assure our teeming supporters that we remain focus and resolute in our quest to make the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup and make a significant impact in the domestic league.
Medeama have moved to 11th on the log in the ongoing 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League after Bernard Ofori’s solitary goal earned them 3 points over Inter Allies on Wednesday at the T&A Park.
