READY TO LEAVE: AshGold supporters’ agitations about my ‘long’ stay not new – Fianoo

Chief Executive Officer of Ashanti Gold SC, Kudjoe Fianoo has revealed that he has been a target for exit by supporters for a long time and will welcome a departure if sanctioned by the club’s board.

The National Co-ordinating Committee (NCC) on Monday release a statement dubbed The State of Ashanti Gold Sporting Club Limited.

It stated that he, Kudjoe Fianoo, must reduce his salary by 50%. Head coach, Bashiru Hayford should also resign latest by Friday the 15th of April whiles Clement Donkoh, John William and Kofi Yawson services with the club should cease with immediate effect.

These agitations come as a result of the club not performing well in the local league; picking only one win from seven matches and Fianoo who admits to the need for a change in the dwindling fortunes of AshGold is wishing the club’s board can act swiftly on the letter.

“Even if things are not going on well, we need to remain focus and bring back the ship but there are agitations here and there,” Fianoo told Nhyira FM.

“You can’t get up one day and do what you like since Ashgold is made of structures. I have received a letter from the supporters which they are sending a copy to the board. I will draft a letter to the board if they can as quickly as possible take into consideration what the supporters are saying, if it will benefit the club, why not! The world is a stage, you perform your part and leave for others to continue,” he explained.

Fianoo, who is gunning for the CHALCA Chairmanship says he will gladly welcome any results that emanates from the highest decision making body of the club.

“Right now, I have to keep cool heads. Yes we began [the league] on a wrong foot. I was earlier expecting we will all come on-board without the blame game and other stuffs. But I will make things known. You know I don’t hide my feelings. These things have been there long long ago. ‘Kojo Fianoo has kept long at Obuasi and needs to vacate his post; we will find him a replacement’, that kind of thing.

“What covered it a little was the league we won last season. People were patiently waiting for this opportunity to hit at us, and gladly are in. So as I said we will wait for the board to take the final decision.

“If we are to make way for the team to return to winning ways why not! It happens in football, it happens everywhere. Managing Director somewhere can resign whiles someone is brought in to help turn things around, so we leave it to the board to take that decision.”

Ashanti Gold last Sunday lost their match day seven league match at home to Dreams FC by a goal to nil. They currently lie 12th on the league table with seven points.
